Social business model for youth for inclusive and integrated waste management development

Vision

Social status of the young Roma from the NEET (“Not in Employment, Education or Training”) group will be improved. They will now be in the fully legal status and the series of activities will present this new status to the general public in Belgrade, including not only the citizens but the very important group – tourists, because the Roma waste collectors will work mainly in the downtown.

Approach

We will raise awareness of cross-sectoral circular economy providers with regards to Roma youth, in order to decrease their level of unemployment in Serbia. Reaching the results of this will further enhance impact of the project activities due to incorporation of significant stakeholders in the circular economy – processors of the collected and selected solid waste. In that way, impact of the Roma youth work will be multiplied several times and incomes will be higher and stable.

Mission

To contribute to deployment of social innovations for Roma youth informal waste collectors by implementing the principles of cross-sectoral circular economy, in a youth social-enterprise format, which will improve socio-economic status of this target group. To provide pre-conditions for employment and self-employment of Roma youth in the sector of waste collection, which will prepare members of target group for tasks in activities that will have results in efficiency and efficacy of the managing of solid waste regarding circular economy goals.
